Welcome to Giffin Farms!

Our farm is like many others in our area.  Most of Derek's time and energy is spent on the row crop side of the operation.  A lot of our corn, soybeans, and wheat are grown in the same fields that his dad, granddad, and great-grandaddy farmed, beginning more than a hundred years ago.  It is our hope to continue this tradition, and as we go, we'll look for ways to make it our own.

One way we are doing this is by reintroducing cattle to Giffin Farms.  The best part is that we are creating a mutually beneficial system between our cows and our crops.  Both sides work together to make each other stronger and healthier.  We love the end result: a more sustainable farm and a greater opportunity to provide our community with healthy local beef.

Derek

From the time I could begin helping my father on the farm, I knew that I wanted to do my part to continue and grow the operation.

In 2015, I graduated with my B.S. in Ag Production from the University of Tennessee at Martin.  After college, I knew I wanted to come back to our family farm and build on the foundation my family had created.  Row cropping is still our main operation, but we have added stocker calves and retail beef to help diversify the business.

In 2012, I left Missouri for Tennessee with plans of getting my B.S. in Ag Business, competing on the UTM Rodeo team, and then coming home...

And then "home" changed.

When I graduated I knew I needed to stay.  I was lucky to find a great job in Paris, TN as a Farm Loan Officer for the Farm Service Agency.  Shorty after, I received the greatest blessing of my life.  Derek and I got married and we began building our home in Northwest Tennessee.  Our goals are beginning to take shape and we couldn't be more excited.
