Planting Into Dead Cover Crops
Planting our crops into mature green cover crops usually works really well... but this spring, we were rained out of the field so long that our cover crop died. Then a storm blew it down creating a tough, thick, tangled mat that was almost impossible to plant through.
With the help of other farmers, we finally found a solution that did NOT include plows, discs, hay balers, or matches. This is how it turned out...
If you’d like to see everything that failed to plant through this cover crop, check out our Cover Crop Disaster video (https://youtu.be/TTBil0ugYDY). If you’d like to see the full details of how we made it work, check out Cover Crop Disaster Part 2: The Solution (https://youtu.be/8GJfwoUipw0).
